超声波清洗的主要机理是空化作用，而清洗剂表面张力、蒸汽压、黏度等特性与超声波空化强弱息息相关，不同的清洗剂其空化阀值也不同。当清洗剂表面张力大、黏度大时是不利于超声波空化的，而高蒸汽压也会降低空化强度。因此，表面张力大、蒸汽压高和黏度大的清洗剂都不利于超声波清洗。
